The new smart devices for learning

Steve Wheeler, of the University of Plymouth, will present at Learning Technologies 2010 (now in association with Learning and Skills)in January looking at the effects of new smart devices on organisational learning and development.

Smart phones are now proving themselves for learning, but what happens next with smart devices? Join Steve Wheeler as he explores how existing technologies such as GPS, cameras, light-weight projection and bar code scanning can be combined with new software to extraordinary effect. In the next few years, individual's interactions with the world, and how they learn in it, may be transformed.

About Steve Wheeler
Steve Wheeler has spent his entire professional career working in learning media and technology, predominantly in nurse education and teacher training. He is currently a senior lecturer in education and information technology in the Faculty of Education at the University of Plymouth. He is technology mediated learning co-ordinator for the faculty and also convenes the University's e-learning research network.
