e-Learning 3.0 - Learning with the extended smart web

"Steve Wheeler will look into the very latest developments in learning technologies, tools and devices - from the vast amount of new ideas out there. All of it is exciting, some of it is outlandish, and some of it might crash and burn, but we can be sure that some of it will affect the way we deliver learning in organisations in the future," said Conference Chair, Donald Taylor.

As the web continues to evolve we see trends emerging that open up an exciting range of new opportunities for learning. In his session at the Learning Technologies 2011 Conference, Steve Wheeler will explore new and emerging web features, and will speculate on how learners might benefit from the current trends towards smarter, more accessible collaborative web environments. The Semantic Web - or Web 3.0 - is already here, but what are the challenges and opportunities it brings with it as it extends its influence? Steve will examine the development and application of intelligent and context-aware mobile and handheld devices, and offers some discussion on how we may harness the power of these technologies in the near future. This session will feature:

- Augmented and virtual reality
- Semantic Web technologies
- Wearable and handheld devices
- Mobile and ubiquitous learning
- 3D visualisation and interaction

The Learning Technologies 2011 conference takes place on 26-27 January 2011 at London Olympia 2. Learning Technologies conference programme and bookings.
