Announcing Learning and Skills 2010 in London
A new event for learning and development professionals - Learning and Skills 2010 - to be co-located with the highly successful Learning Technologies exhibition and conference is being launched today.
Learning and Skills 2010 will run alongside Learning Technologies 2010 on 27 and 28 January 2010, to create an important new hub for one of the UK economy's most dynamic sectors.
The recent Learning Technologies exhibition and conference was the largest in its ten-year history and was the third year in a row that the event sold out. Over 3,000 L£D professionals came to the exhibition and more than 400 paid to attend the conference. Following extensive research with 376 learning-industry leaders the new event will complement Learning Technologies by showcasing the entire spectrum of methods, products and services available for workplace learning and employee development.
And together, the two events will offer exhibitors and visitors scale, depth and focus and allow learning professionals to review the full range of options in one place, at one time... and in context.
At Learning and Skills 2010, four themed theatres will feature over 50 free seminars for visitors to attend over the two day show, complementing the educational agenda and strategic conference at Learning Technologies.
The 'People Development' theatre will focus on management and business skills, leadership development, IT skills, specialist skills, culture and language. The 'Learning and Performance' theatre will cover developing high-performance teams, coaching and mentoring, organisational development and change management. The 'Learning Resources' theatre will explore content publishers, awarding bodies and associations, training resources and spaces. And the 'HR Systems and Services' theatre will examine performance management, talent and human capital management, assessment, appraisals and specialist learning systems.
Laura Overton, MD of Towards Maturity, one of the supporting organisations praised the move "We really welcome the timely arrival of Learning and Skills 2010 and the fantastic opportunity it will bring to learning and development professionals who are looking for innovative new ways to keep ahead of the curve in the current climate."
Show founders Ian Smout and Mark Penton are delighted to be able build on the success of the Learning Technologies event and to introduce a whole new set of learning products and services to the growing number of visitors that attend the event each January.
"The research shows that over 30% of the Learning Technologies audience is responsible for training budgets in excess of £1 million; however, the majority of this budget is still allocated to more traditional learning products and services, which Learning and Skills 2010 will cater for. In addition, over 80% of the visitors to Learning Technologies plan to find time to attend the launch event, as well as recommending that colleagues in their organisation responsible for other areas of learning and development also visit," said Smout.
"There is also a totally new audience of learning and HR professionals enthusiastic to adopt a more integrated approach to workplace learning and the combination of the two events will help them achieve that. It will be an outstanding opportunity for the learning industry to channel its energy into what will be Europe's most significant gathering of organisational learning professionals, and exhibitors at the new event will be part of an exciting new launch where the audience is already guaranteed."
Learning and Skills 2010 will be supported by HR Magazine, Personnel Today, The HR Director, Training Journal, TrainingZone and HRZone and will run in Olympia 2's ground floor, immediately beneath Learning Technologies 2010, on 27 and 28 January 2010.
